Sam Raimi recently told Empire that 'The Evil Dead' title is a fluke, as he wanted a longer title for the film.

The movie was titled 'The Evil Dead' to save precious ad space and money.

Sam Raimi told Empire that the film's title was a Eureka moment on the part of the marketing time.

According to Raimi, the film's original title was 'The Book Of The Dead,' but a conversation with film-sales agent Irwin Shapiro made him shorten the title. Ultimately, 'The Evil Dead' was picked.

Sam Raimi also  wrote and directed two sequels  'Evil Dead It' (1987) and 'Army Of Darkness' (1992)

Fede Alvarez directed the 2013 film 'Evil Dead' which became the fourth film in the franchise.

The fifth film in the franchise, 'Evil Rise Dead' stars Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland.

'Evil Rise Dead' has a theatrical release date of April 21, 2023.
