Coolio is confirmed to have died from a fentanyl overdose. The news comes following his demise last year at his friend’s residence.
The rapper’s manager Jarez Posey revealed that his family has been informed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office about his cause of death. Posey added that Coolio’s smoking habits also led to his death.
The coroner’s office confirmed it to be an accidental death. Other contributing reasons were not disclosed but he had a few conditions like cardiomyopathy and asthma.
Back in September 2022, Coolio went to a friend’s house in Los Angeles. He went to the bathroom but there was no response from him for a long time.
His friend eventually broke into the bathroom and Coolio was discovered unresponsive. He was confirmed dead on spot by the paramedics.
According to law enforcement sources, there were no signs of drugs or drug paraphernalia. An investigation was also launched for further details.
Coolio released his first album, ‘It Takes a Thief’, in 1994. He then released seven more albums until 2009 and the latest was ‘From the Bottom 2 the Top.’
He was featured in several music videos. He even gained recognition for his hit singles like ‘Too Hot’, ‘Hit ‘Em High’, ‘Ooh La La’, and more.
