Who Is Akshata Murty?

Akshata Murty has become the first lady of the United Kingdom as Rishi Sunak became the Prime Minister of the country.

Akshata Murty has her roots in India as she was born in the southern Indian state of Karnataka to parents Sudha Murthy, a profilic author and father Narayan Murthy, co-founder of Infosys.

She grew up in India before she moved to California, where she earned a degree in Economics and French. Later, she did a diploma in fashion designing from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, L.A.

After her brief stint at Unilever and Deloitte, she went to Stanford to pursue MBA. There she met love of her life, Rishi Sunak. They got married in 2009.

In 2011, Akshata started her won label which was shut down in 2013. Later, the couple started Catamaran Ventures in 2013 to fund start ups. 

The now First Lady of U.K. have had embroiled in status. She came under fire when she revoked her non-domicile status, which gave her liberty to evade paying taxes on wealth outside India. She owns stake in Infosys worth between $600-700 million.

The couple is blessed with two kids, Krishna and Anoushka.
