What is Festivus and why is it celebrated?

There are some holidays that start through different shows and movies- there is Galentine's Day and Star Wars day. And another popular one is Festivus.

Festivus is a holiday inspired by the sitcom 'Seinfeld' and is celebrated as an alternative to Christmas.

This holiday was featured in the episode "The Strike" which was telecasted on December 18, 1997.

This secular holiday is celebrated on December 23 but it can also last throughout the month.

The Festivus pole, Festivus Dinner, The Airing of Grievances, and The Feats of Strength are the traditions related to the festival.

The Festivus pole is an aluminum pole that is a form of showing concern for the commercialization of Christmas.

Airing of the Grievances gives the guests a chance to tell all of the time the friends and family have really disappointed them.

Finally, the last tradition gives the head of the family to test their strength against a person of their choosing. This innovative holiday is both fun and meaningful.
