Responding to the allegations, he said “the situation escalated to the limit that was not based in any species of the truth.” Answering the domestic abuse proclamations, he said, “Never did I myself reach the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”

Johnny Depp levied a defamation suit of $50 million due to an Op-Ed that Amber Heard published, claiming her to be a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” There was no mention of Johnny’s name in the opinion piece. According to his attorneys, it has led to the association of Depp with “a lie, a false statement uttered by his former wife.” This also affected the reputation and name that Depp earned during the span of his career. Johnny admitted that “It never had to go in this direction.”

“My goal is the truth,” Johnny affirmed. He continued, “Because the news of this accusation had sort of permeated the industry and then made its way through media and social media.” He was sure there was no substance in the abuse. The actor wanted to take a stand not only for himself but for his kids as well. It has been tumultuous six years for Johnny since Amber Heard filed for divorce and accused him of domestic abuse.

He was affirming in his testimony when he said, “It’s pretty strange when one day you’re Cinderella, so to speak, then 0.6 seconds you’re Quasimodo. I didn’t deserve that, nor did my children, nor did the people who have believed in me for all these years.” Addressing his close ones, he said,  “I didn’t want any of those people to believe that I had done them wrong or lied to them or that I was a fraud. I pride myself on honesty.”

These regular beatings led him to restore to drugs. In his testimony, he said, “I’d done pretty much all the drugs I was aware of by the time I was 15 years old.” But, the origin of the addiction was his mother’s “nerve pills.” The drugs were never for achieving some high, but “It’s been for trying to numb the things inside that can plague someone who has experienced trauma.”

In his statement, he condemned Amber Heard for using his past trial history with drugs to accuse him. He said, “Once you’ve trusted somebody for a certain amount of years and you’ve told them all the secrets of your life, that information then, of course, can be used against you.
