Fans are overwhelmed and taken by surprise by the trailer of Thor: Love & Thunder. No doubt that within 24 hours of its release the trailer garnered 200 million views. Another surprising element in the trailer was Natalie Portman reprising her character of Jane Foster.
Jane Foster made her debut in Thor(2011) and went on to work in Thor: The Dark World(2013), and Avengers: Endgame(2019). In the earlier films of the Thor franchise, Natalie played the role of an astrophysicist when Thor falls on the Earth from Asgard. However, Taika Waititi, the director of the new Thor: Love & Thunder has assured that Jane will have a funnier and bigger part to play in the film.

In a recent interview with Empire, Taika Waititi assures the fans that as she takes up Mjöllnir, there will be an expanded and better version than the last two films. He said, “You don’t want Natalie coming back and playing that same character who’s walking around with science equipment,” he explained. “You know, while Thor’s flying around, she’s left on Earth, tapping her foot going, ‘When’s he going to be back?’ That’s boring. You want her to be part of the adventure.”
The fans can expect to witness more goodies and witty Jane Foster aka Natalie Portman. Talking about it, he said, “Natalie’s really funny in real life. She’s kind of goofy and has got a great sense of humor, and I don’t think that was exploited enough in the first films.” He also touched upon how Thor might get “mindf****d” after seeing Jane after eight years. “She’s had a whole other life, and then the love of your life comes back on the scene and is now dressed like you.”
Thor: Love & Thunder will hit theaters on July 8th, 2022.
