After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Xochitl Gomez spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her future as America Chavez.

After earning the part, Gomez confessed that it “took [her] a couple of weeks for it to completely set in that [she] was America,” but she assured me that she’s ready for whatever comes with it after her debut. She also mentioned that she has already made pals with some of her Young Avengers co-stars.

Chavez stated, “Whatever they plan to do, I’m willing to do it. I have made friends with lots of people. I mean, of course through IG and stuff. But I mean, why not?”

Gomez thanked her coworkers for “creating friendships” during her time shooting Doctor Strange 2 and expressed her delight at being a part of a franchise she adored before her first MCU film. “I used to be a huge fan of the MCU. So, to think that I get to work with these amazing actors and actresses, I’m very thankful that I get to have this amazing opportunity,” she added.

I’m just excited to see what the MCU has in store for her and her character growth.”

When Gomez enquired about America’s future with Marvel’s upper management. They refused to give her any suggestions, implying that she doesn’t know much about what’s in store. Speaking on this matter she said, “I wish [I knew more]. I asked for hints like, ‘Guys, this way or this way? Just point which way’. And they’re like, ‘Nope.'”

Marvel hasn’t been coy about the idea that the Young Avengers will be a key component of the MCU at some time in the future in recent years. Given that Gomez’s America Chavez is one of the squad’s most significant and powerful members in the comics. It’s almost inevitable that she’ll follow her comic-accurate path to join the MCU’s version of the team.

Gomez has already formed important bonds with the MCU’s younger cast members. She has already appeared alongside both of Wanda Maximoff’s twin kids in Doctor Strange 2. While there are no plans for their characters to return to the big or small screen. Also, forming these bonds now will only benefit them later. Gomez, in classic Marvel Studios fashion, has no idea where or when the Young Avengers will first join together. It’s in a movie or a Disney+ show in Phase 4 or later.

Despite the uncertainty, she eagerly anticipates donning her star-studded jean jacket. Punching her way through the Multiverse when the time comes. When the time comes, she’ll make her journey through the Multiverse.
