There are many reasons that people lose their jobs, but we are sure you wouldn’t know anyone who was fired for the reason Domino Kirke was let go by Amy Schumer as her doula. The actress admitted that it was “pretty unfair”.
Domino, who is married to Penn Badgely, was Schumer’s doula in 2019 when the actress and her husband Chris Fischer welcomed their first child together – a boy named Gene. But shortly after the delivery, Domino lost her job. So, what was the reason?

What Was Amy Schumer’s “Pretty Unfair” Reason To Fire Domino Kirke?
Amy Schumer is quite unabashed in her ways and doesn’t hesitate to call a spade a spade. Recently, she revealed why she was compelled to fire Domino as her doula. It was because she was simply too “lovely”. Can you believe it? On the June 22 episode of the Podcrushed podcast, Schumer recounted the incident and explained her reason for letting Domino go to her husband Penn Badgely.
She said, “Domino is like a goddess. She’s an actual floating siren around the house. She’s so like, just lovely and when she touches you just kind of melt. And she was really a family member. And I just felt so vulnerable, I was like, ‘I can’t have this Botticelli f–king goddess floating around my home when I am like, bleeding out.”
Schumer might have had her reason for firing Domino, but she is certainly aware that it was “pretty unfair”. The comedian’s postpartum experience wasn’t a breeze. She said she was recovering from a C-section at the time and it took a toll on her.
The actress added about Domino, “I just didn’t have the strength to allow myself the luxury of having her around our home. I was like, ‘I think you can’t come anymore.’ We were going to work together longer after I had Gene and I kind of suddenly was like, ‘I’m good and I don’t need a post-partum doula anymore.'”
Amy Had A Tough Time During Her Pregnancy
Amy Schumer’s pregnancy was very rough as she battled with hyperemesis gravidarum – a condition that causes extreme nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. She even had to be hospitalized during her second trimester and had to cancel the remainder of her comedy tour at the time.
But thankfully, things worked out and she gave birth to Gene and feels that motherhood is a blessing. She told E! News that it was all worth it in the end. “The hype is real. Believe the hype. I’m so lucky,” she said six months after giving birth to her son.
