1986 blockbuster ‘Top Gun’ starred Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell – a rookie pilot who attends the United States Navy’s elite fighter weapons school. Maverick then goes head-to-head with Iceman, played by Val Kilmer as they compete to become the “top gun” or the best pilot in their batch. The movie also starred Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, and Meg Ryan.
