Bear Grylls has his own island retreat in Wales, United Kingdom. He bought Saint Tudwal’s Island West in 2001 for £95,000. Grylls, his wife Shara, and their three children, Marmaduke, Huckleberry, and Jocelyne love to spend time there. Located 20 miles from shore and without access to modern conveniences like power or running water, this island is a true wilderness. It is flanked by breathtaking coastal cliffs and frequented by seals, dolphins, and even a little lighthouse.

Grylls went on to say that the original limestone walls (which measure in at a thick two feet) of his home keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Even at a height of 150 feet, he claims that sea spray may reach the windows. The facility is there even after fierce gales and that the foundations can be felt to tremble. Grylls also mentioned that because of the potential for being stuck on the island due to bad weather, they only allow one family to stay in his residence at any given time.
