His close friend and filmmaker Quentin Tarantino recently slammed Marvel films and their stars. The 73-year-old actor has now countered his stance on Marvel characters being bigger than a star. Let’s find out what the ‘Pulp Fiction‘ actor said about it.

Samuel L. Jackson Counters Quentin Tarantino’s Marvel Comments
Samuel L. Jackson has appeared as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which is why he has a soft corner for the superhero genre; a genre that’s been criticized lately.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran actor has countered Quentin Tarantino’s comments on Marvel actors and characters. “That’s not a big controversy for me to know that these actors are movie stars“, he said.
He continued. “Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t refute that, and he’s a movie star. It takes an actor to be those particular characters.
The actor was also asked about what he thinks is the measure of an actor becoming a “star” in Hollywood. “The sign of movie stardom has always been — what — asses in seats?” he said. “What are we talking about?”
Tarantino Had Said Marvel Characters Are Bigger Than The Stars
Quentin Tarantino recently talked about the “marvelization of Hollywood.” My only axe to grind is they’re the only things that seem to be made,” he said.
“And they’re the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement amongst a fan base or even for the studio making them … So it’s just the fact that they are the entire representation of this era of movies right now. There’s not really much room for anything else. That’s my problem. It’s a problem of representation.”
He then said that today the Captain America character is a star and not Chris Evans. “Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters,” he explained. “But they’re not movie stars. Right?“
‘Shang-Chi‘ actor Simu Li clapped back at Tarantino’s remarks in a tweet and said that these directors cannot act like “gatekeepers.”
