Right after the ‘Black Adam‘ panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con, Dwayne Johnson talked about Henry Cavill and his portrayal of Superman.

The wrestler-turned-actor was asked about his possible showdown with Cavill as Black Adams and Superman in a future DC film. He said, “I will say that Henry is a buddy and he is a phenomenal Superman and Henry Cavill is the Superman of our generation.”

He added, “My long-time business partner Dany Garcia…She has been a passionate advocate for Henry Cavill and his career for a very very long time.”

The Rock then continued his admiration for the ‘Man of Steel‘ actor, “The reason why I say all that because you got a lot of people who advocate on Henry’s behalf and root for him to win and I do root for him to win. And I do root for him to win. And at the end of the day, he is a phenomenal Superman.”

Earlier at the Comic-Con, Johnson was asked about who would win if Superman and Black Adam fight. He replied, “That’s a great question… don’t threaten me with a good time, cause I’m going to answer that question. Well, I will say, as you guys know, because we’re all in deep with this mythology, and it’s been an age-old question of who would win a fight between Black Adam and Superman.

He continued, “Pound for pound, they’re pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman; I’m just going to say that. I’ll leave it at that.”

The words, “I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman,” suggested that the role of Superman is open and Cavill will not be continuing the role. As a reaction, the crowd booed at Johnson’s response.

All we can hope is that Cavill returns as the caped crusader in the future.
