Maye Musk is all about breaking stereotypes. With her 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, Musk, a model, author, mother, and activist, continues to redefine the discourse around aging.
She will also be one of the faces of the 2022 edition, with Kim Kardashian, Ciara, and Yumi Nu, a rising model. Maye, who is featured on the cover in a bright, ruffle-embellished Maygel Coronel one-piece and fun palm branch earrings, says the SI Swimsuit shoot in Belize with photographer Yu Tsai was a great experience.

Maye’s first reaction was that she could never dream up something like that. This is because she thought about how would people react to a 74-year-old on their cover. And that too in a swimsuit. Musk even jokes about the fact that she is now a CoverGirl!
“I do think it’s going to make women feel more comfortable in their seventies when they swim, as well as women in their twenties and thirties.”

In a video by Sports Illustrated on YouTube, Maye shares her experience during the entire shoot. Also, Maye shares that when women go to the beach, they are kind of shy about their bodies. On the other hand, men will simply walk around, looking terrible. The worst part is they do not even care and Maye feels that this is what women too must do.

Tosca Musk Pens An Essay For Her Mom, Maye
Maye’s daughter Tosca penned an article titled The Unstoppable Force for the 2022 SI Swimsuit edition. She said, “My whole life, I’ve seen my mom do everything. As a result, I think I’ll always expect her to be able to do everything,” Tosca shared. “Sometimes I wonder whether it’s time I start limiting those expectations, as she gets older. But then I look at her again, still unstoppable, and I think, not yet.”
She did so as a homage to her mother’s influence. Tosca also listed a couple of her mother’s accomplishments, noting that she is now 74 years old. She has two master’s degrees in nutrition science, has received accolades in the dietetics area, has been in several fashion shows and editorials, and has even been in a Beyoncé video throughout her years in this world. She’s an unstoppable force, and she’s the bravest woman Tosca has ever encountered.
