Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for $50 million regarding an alleged defamatory article that she wrote in the Washington Post. In turn, Amber counter-sued him for $100 million. Both have accused each other of physical assault and testified in court for the same. The trial has been in motion since April 12th, 2022 at Fairfax County Court, Virginia. Many testimonies and cross-examinations have been recorded over time. During Johnny Depp’s testimony, he admitted that he never “struck” Ms. Heard or any other woman in his life. However, his ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin has testified, and the picture is different!
Ellen Barkin Claimed That Johnny Depp Was A Drunkard During Their Association
In a new update, Johnny’s co-star and ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin testified in a deposition. The first encounter between both of them was on the sets of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The film was adapted from Johnny Depp’s friend’s Late. Hunter S. Thompson novel. Barkin had a minor role in the movie.
The Tony awardee said that the inception of the relationship was a friendship. She recalled, “We just developed a friendship over time that lasted, I guess, if we met in the 90s, maybe 10 years, a little less. The friendship went up and down living on different coasts.”She continued that the relationship evolved into a more romantic one.
Ellen said the relationship “became romantic in nature … the friendship went from a purely platonic friendship to a romantic one.” She then corrected herself, saying, “Can you change that to sexual?” Ellen moved from New York to Hollywood for the sake of their blooming relationship. The actress also mentioned that Johnny Depp was “always drinking and smoking a joint.” Barkin used adjectives like “controlling,” “jealous,” and “demanding.” She recalled, “I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from me having sex with a person who wasn’t him.”
Ellen Barkin Also Testified During The U.K. Libel Suit In 2020
This was not the first time that Barkin testified in a feud related to Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. In 2020, she testified for Amber Heard during The Sun’s libel suit. The publication called Johnny Depp a “wife-beater” which caused Depp to file a lawsuit which he eventually lost.
Ellen recalled an incident where Johnny threw a wine bottle in her direction. She said that the reason for throwing the bottle was unknown, but it was a “toss” across the room in her and others’ direction. Fortunately, no one was injured during the episode. The Pirates of the Caribbean star previously called the claim “untrue,” Reuters reported, claiming Barkin held a grudge against him and adding, “I do not have an anger-management problem.”
