Julia Roberts is an Oscar winner who rose to fame thanks to a string of beloved romantic comedies such as Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and My Best Friend’s Wedding. Recently she revealed that she hasn’t done a rom-com in over 20 years by choice. People sometimes misinterpret the fact that she hasn’t done a romantic comedy in a long time as her unwillingness to do one. Julia would do it if she had read something that she thought was on the level of Notting Hill or My Best Friend’s Wedding in terms of madcap fun.
Julia Roberts And The Ticket To Paradise!
Even after she found that once-in-20-years rom-com script she loved, it turned out to be Ol Parker’s Ticket to Paradise. The film will release in October. Roberts said there was another hurdle. She wanted to do the project, but only opposite one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men. Julia thought that it otherwise will be a disaster because this only works if it’s George Clooney. And behold, George felt it only worked with Roberts. Somehow they were both able to do it, and off they went.
Does She Still Have The Same Ease With Rom-Com?
The good news is yes. Julia loves to laugh and be funny. You get into that mode of those endorphins going off when you’re clever and people are astonished. She thinks that it becomes this automatic thing where you’re always thinking in terms of creating fun. Roberts finds it to be a joy to play in that sandbox as it has been a long time. And while we’re on the subject of two-decade periods, Roberts told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show tonight about her twenty-year anniversary with husband Danny Moder. Colbert asked Julia about the secret to a successful marriage. Roberts replied that Colbert would know the answer to that as well.
Colbert revealed, to the delight of the audience, that he has been married to Evelyn McGee-Colbert for 28 years. Stephen then suggested that they say what they think makes marriages strong on the count of three. Colbert shouted out, Apologies and Roberts said Kisses. Of course, the response caught him off guard. And he apologized to his wife for not saying Kisses!
