Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Kids: How Many Children Do They Have? What Do Their Names Mean?

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are one of the most famous and contentious ex-couple in Hollywood. Kim became famous through her family’s reality show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians‘ in 2007. Apart from Kim, all her sisters too made the best use of the show and are well-established today. Kanye, on the other hand, is a famous American rapper. He rose to prominence when he signed with Roc-A-Fella and later released his very first single ‘College Dropout’ in 2004. He also launched his own record label and named it GOOD Music.

Kim and Kanye’s divorce was probably the most dramatic divorce in the industry. West went ahead to defame Kim’s mother, her boyfriend, and associates to the level that his accounts were even blocked. The post-divorce drama was the dominant topic of the year 2022. But what about their kids who were somehow dragged in between? Let us take a sneak peek at Kanye and Kim’s children and their lives!

Who Are Kim Kardashian And Kanye West’s Children?

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian met when Kim accompanied her friend to a music video shoot with Kanye. After that, the duo was featured in a Star Wars-themed video. This was back in 2008. After doing a video together people adored them. However, to everyone’s surprise, Kim got married to Kris Humphries in 2011. But as Kim and Kanye were meant to be together, her marriage with Kris lasted for just 72 days.

Post that in 2013 Kanye and Kim welcomed their very first child together – North West. After that Kanye proposed to Kim on a massive basketball court. It was an obvious yes from Kim and they tied the knot in 2014 in a stunning Italian wedding ceremony. After a year of their marriage, their second child and first son Saint West were born. After Saint, Kim and Kanye again planned a baby. This was the time when Kim’s second daughter and third child, Chicago was born. She came into the world on January 15, 2018. Kanye and Kim then welcomed their youngest child Psalm West in May 2019. Chicago and Psalm were born via surrogacy.

However, the pair split as Kardashian filed the divorce plea on February 19, 2021. In April 2021, they divorced owing to “irreconcilable issues” and agreed to share custody of their four children.

    What Do their Names Mean?

The reason for Kim Kardashian’s first child’s odd moniker is that “North” represents “their greatest moment together.” North means the highest power for the mother-daughter duo. Kim has been transparent about the difficulties she has experienced during her pregnancies. She had to give birth at 34 weeks during her first pregnancy because of hypertension. Additionally, she had placenta accreta after giving birth. Kim and Kanye chose the name Saint for their son because they felt that he was a “blessing” following Kim’s difficult pregnancy.

Kim spoke on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show‘ in 2018 about the origins of Chicago’s name. She said “That’s where he grew up with his family, and it had an indelible impression on him [then-husband Kanye West]. Chicago just seemed unique and interesting to me.” However, in a subsequent blog entry, Kim revealed that she shortens Chicago’s name to “Chi” (pronounced “Shy”) since “she’s so girlie!” Kim said that she had informally given Chi a middle name, something none of the other children had. It just so happens that Chi shares Kim’s middle name, Noel.

Kim said publicly in February 2020 that she considered Psalm to be her father Rob Kardashian Sr. They might have honored Kim’s late father and brother by naming him Robert or Rob, but they decided against it. Rather, they went for a biblical name that evokes singing. This makes sense as Kanye is a musician and a Christian too.
