American Supermodel Gigi Hadid is giving her earnings from all the runway shows she appeared in this season. That is to say to support people in Ukraine who are suffering because of Russia’s ongoing war, similarly those in Palestine who are suffering equally.
Gigi And Her Pledge For Ukraine And Palestine
On Sunday, the supermodel posted photographs of several of her memorable runway ensembles from the previous month on Instagram.
“Having a set Fashion Month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history. We do not have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something. Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz, I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine,” she wrote in the post.
“Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as siblings, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war-not leaders. HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE, PEACE, PEACE” she further added.
She received 2,975,160 likes on her Instagram post announcing her contribution to Palestine, Ukraine, via her 72.8 million followers.
Other Famous Personalities Who Have Pledged To Donate
Mica Arganaraz said in late February that she would contribute a percentage of her sales to Ukrainian humanitarian groups, and she encouraged other exhibitors to follow suit. Gigi Hadid’s younger sister and supermodel Bella Hadid paid respect to Arganaraz and expressed her support. Meanwhile other models, such as Kaia Gerber, have followed her suit, but Gigi Hadid was the first to contribute her whole salary.
Some other prominent personalities also include-
1. Harry Potter author J.K Rowling who donated 1.3 million dollars to Ukraine.
2. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds- The husband-wife duo also donated 1 million dollars.
3. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher- The celebrity pair hopes to collect $30 million and have pledged to match up to $3 millions of it with their own funds.
On Wednesday, Russia and Ukraine began their 14th day of warfare since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a massive invasion of Ukraine on February 24. In what is currently Europe’s quickest refugee crisis after World War II, at least 2 million people (about the population of Nebraska) have left Ukraine, with over 1,000 civilians murdered.
