Superman And Lois Prequel Takes A Big Shot At Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel

Man Of Steel is a 2013 superhero film based on the DC Comics character Superman. It is the first installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and a reboot of the Superman film series, produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The reboot of the Superman film series portrays the character’s origin story. Recently, Zack Snyder remembers the moments from DC Film Universe and how The prequel to Superman and Lois took a big shot at Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, here is everything we know so far.

Zack Snyder Remembers Moments From DC Film Universe

One of Zack Snyder’s most divisive moments in the DC film universe came when his Pa Kent (Kevin Costner) gave bad advice to young Clark. The portrayal of a father desperate to keep Clark’s powers hidden in Smallville was Man of Steel’s biggest blunder. When their bus crashed into a river, Jonathan stated that perhaps Clark should have let a child perish.

He was aware that it was bitterly cold, but he didn’t want Clark to reveal the truth about his Kryptonian ancestry. In this scene, Snyder was attempting to make Jonathan more human, but fans and critics condemned it as proof that the director had failed to capture the Kents’ hearts. It got worse later when Clark became Superman and didn’t understand he was destroying Metropolis while fighting Zod. Many DC cartoons, shows, and movies have attempted to create a more humane superhero approach since then, and Earth-Prime #2, ironically, took a significant swipe at what Snyder did.

Clark Revisited The Past With Jonathan And How His Father Motivated Him

When Clark revisited the past with Jonathan and how his father motivated him to greatness. It happened on “Father’s Day“(from Jai Jamison, Adam Mallinger, Andrew N. Wong, Tom Grummett, Norm Rapmund, Hi-Fi, and Tom Napolitano).

A bus nearly struck a child while wandering through the streets of Smallville in this prologue to the CW’s Superman & Lois. Clark rushed the youngster and his bike to safety, only to awkwardly begin apologizing to his father. However, Johnathan dismissed it, making it apparent that Clark had no choice. In fact, he questioned whether Clark was truly willing to sacrifice a child to keep his secret hidden.

Other Pa Kents prior to Snyder’s version exhibited this kind of selflessness, openly urging Clark to be a hero. They were worried and cautioned Clark, but they never told him to let innocent people die. Pa Kent took advantage of this opportunity to infuse even more light in his son. After that, Clark reflected on how watching All the President’s Men with his father taught him about the power of journalism.

It was used to bring down leaders or common criminals. Unfortunately, Pa Kent died before the episode premiered. Leaving Clark wishing he could have seen more of the Man of Steel in the Daily Planet, as well as his first solo byline.

Added Another Layer Of Complexity To Their Relationship

Nonetheless, he had the impression that his father was looking down on him.  It added another layer of complexity to their relationship.

It made the two feel more wholesome and spiritually connected, with Clark fulfilling his father’s dream of saving lives. It’s a vast cry from what Snyder molded in the DC Extended Universe, which felt soulless. Tyler Hoechlin’s portrayal is also regarded as gold because the CW went away from it.

Thankfully, Henry Cavill’s Superman, like the Superman in this comic, would mature and gravitate toward the light. It did help to wipe away Pa Kent’s caustic, self-centered persona. Snyder’s portrayal had already left a bad taste in people’s mouths by that point.

So much so that Warner Bros.’ new executives dubbed that version of Superman “lost potential,” prompting the studio to consider how to develop a lighter-hearted Kal-El, with or without Cavill.
