The Beatles: New Book Celebrates The Fab Four’s Ever-Lasting Legacy With Never-Seen-Before Photos

A new photographic book titled “With a Little Help from My Lens (My Time with the Beatles)” includes extremely rare images of The Beatles that have never been published before. The photographs show the rock band members both in and out of their stage costumes. In the 1960s, photographer Tommy Hanley grew close to the group and frequently captured their images, which have remained hidden from the public until now.

After Tommy Hanley passed away, his son Tony Hanley made the decision to look through the original black-and-white negatives of photographs that had been taken by his father and printed a good number of them in color. The book contains more than two hundred and eighty photos, some of which have been seen before and others which were never released to the public.

The Beatles are widely regarded as one of the most successful bands of all time and have produced a great deal of evergreen music. Now, a new book has photographs of The Beatles that have never been published before. Their previously unknown picture library was found and published by the son of their late photographer, Tommy Hanley. The photographs span the band’s whole career. Unpublished photographs from the band’s early days are included, as well as rare images of John Lennon and George Harrison together.

According to Tony Hanley, his father’s greatest accomplishment was that “he could be in a room with a camera without people feeling either that it was intrusive or that they had to pose.”

One of the most memorable images captured by his father was a backstage shot of the Fab Four pretending to adjust their ties at the Odeon Cinema in Luton on September 6, 1963. “That particular image just captures the fun, the liveliness, the vibrancy, the effervescence of them in their infancy,” said Tony Hanley. “You know, you get to ‘Get Back’ and, you know, they were deep in, kind of, doing stuff, whereas they were just four kids that were having a great time. And that image captures it.”

As a limited collector’s edition, the book will be made available in a special run of one thousand hand-signed and numbered copies, each of which will include a holographic front cover depicting Tommy’s iconic “Four Ties” artwork.
