“This Is Crazy”: Professional Hypnotist’s Two-Minute Trick Shocks Podcast Listeners

In terms of practice and application, each form of hypnosis differs from the rest. But, can you imagine being hypnotized while listening to a podcast? Well, that’s exactly what a trained hypnotist Robert Temple did recently. He left many people perplexed as he hypnotized them on social media with a simple hand trick.

The hypnotist began the mind trick by asking spectators to place their arms in front of them. What happened to them by the end of the two-minute trick shocked them. Then, the video of Temple performing the trick went viral.

How Robert Temple Hypnotized His Audience

On Jack’s Happy Hour Podcast, mentalist Robert Temple explained a technique he employs to hypnotize people in his shows and then performed the two-minute trick for listeners at home. He began by asking them to stretch their arms and placing them 12-inches apart in front of them.

He then stated that when he would count to two, people should turn their left hand upwards and close their eyes until he got to three. Temple then instructed everyone to do nothing except listen to his directions. Things became a little trickier from there.

The hypnotist instructed the audience to “imagine their imagination being unlocked,” and that by temporarily losing one of their senses – sight – their other sense would become more powerful.

Temple then instructed individuals taking part to envision him laying “a really heavy pile of books on their left palm, and that as he proceeded to take those volumes, they would get heavier and heavier slowly pressing their hand towards the floor.”

He encouraged them to envision a pile of red helium balloons attached to their right middle finger, raising their hand “higher and higher towards the sky” as one hand grappled with the weight of the books.

Temple then repeated his instructions before snapping his fingers and urging those at home to open their eyes and look at their hands.

    Hypnosis Baffled People

It’s no wonder that his hypnosis left folks at home terrified, as they opened their eyes to find their left arm pointing to the ground and their right arm pointing up at the ceiling.

One person wrote in the comments section of the video, “This was crazy, I tried it and all the muscles in my left shoulder became exhausted, and my right arm literally flew up weightlessly how amazing!”.

“Worked pretty damn well for me. Especially the book one,” another added. “The moment he mentioned the books my hand felt heavier and heavier. The balloon one wasn’t as quick, it took a bit of time but did eventually work.”

A third person commented: “Crazy! My hand was shaking from the weight (or imagined weight) of the books. I was focusing on how heavy the books were where I didn’t even realize my right arm was lifting with the balloons.”

“The book worked but I’ve got horrendously stiff shoulders, so my arms felt heavy anyways. It was more shocking that my right arm felt so much lighter and actually went up,” another penned.
