Top Gun: Maverick is an upcoming American war-action film starring Tom Cruise. Joseph Kosinski directed the film and Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie have written the screenplay. It’s a follow-up to 1986’s Top Gun. Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer will star alongside Tom Cruise as test pilot Maverick.

Tom Cruise Surprised Everyone At CinemaCon With Top Gun: Maverick
Tom Cruise used a video hookup to announce the picture on Thursday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. A gathering of moviegoers and journalists exhibited, showered the film with adulation as it concluded.
Based on the early response, the sequel appears to be even better than the 1986 original, Top Gun.
Critics’ Response To “Top Gun: Maveric”
The critics are liking the film already, they have showered the movie with praises.
The Wrap’s editor-in-chief Sharon Waxman wrote, “Just had the joyous experience of watching Top Gun: Maverick at #CinemaCon. Old School moviemaking in the best possible sense – Tom Cruise, I tip my hat. You put the youngest stars to shame. What a ride.”
Drew Taylor, an author at TheWrap, added, “#TopGunMaverick is a profound cinematic experience and easily the best film of the year. What Kosinski, @chrismcquarrie, @eddiehamilton and of course @TomCruise have accomplished is epic and intimate, heart stopping and heartbreaking. However good you think it’ll be, it’s better.”
The Ankle reporter Jeff Sneider stated, “TOP GUN: MAVERICK is the perfect blockbuster. Not only did it feature dazzling aerial combat sequences, but I actually cried, it’s that emotional. And call me crazy, but I humbly predict that it WILL land a Best Picture nod next year. It’s not just THAT good, it’s VERY good.”

Top Gun: Maverick will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on the 18th of May. The film is slated to release in the UK on 27 May 2022.
