But some recent changes in the MCU have irked a lot of fans. Case in point the origin of superhero Kamala Khan into a mutant to include the X-Men in the future. But recently, an insider source revealed that X-Men cannot appear in the MCU until after 2025.

A Twitter user named @itsBarreda put out a tweet recently that has stirred the conversation around the X-Men’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He captioned it, “Marvel CANT I REPEAT CAN NOT RECAST current active X-men from Fox at all.”

The tweet mentioned that according to Devin Faraci, the current cohost of Marvelvision, the 20th Century Fox’s contractual obligations to actors in the X-Men franchise have carried over to Disney/Marvel and are in effect until 2025.

It said, “This means that Marvel Studios cannot recast, announce or enter production on a film that includes roles held by some if not all of the most recent principal actors in the Fox X-Men franchise.”

The source also stated that ‘Deadpool 3’ and Xavier in DS are exempted because they are original actors. The delay in introducing the X-Men is due to the legalities that prevent a reboot. Disney plans to increase the longevity of the MCU and thus needs more IPs to sustain it, according to the source.

In the final episode of ‘Ms. Marvel,’ Kamala Khan talks with Bruno (Matt Lintz) about her origin. As he’s been looking into it further and comparing her genes to her family, realizing there is something different, saying it’s “like a mutation.”

We then hear the theme song from’ X-Men: The Animated Series’. The change is a deviation from the comics where Kamala is an Inhuman and not a mutant. The theme song was also used for Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel appearance in the post-credits scene of ‘Ms. Marvel’ has also ignited this debate. According to some rumors, she might also be shown as a mutant in the upcoming film ‘The Marvels’.

But now that we know Marvel cannot use the X-Men characters, how will they take the mutant storyline forward? We will have to wait and see how it unfolds.
