Moon Knight Writer Reveals How Kit Harington Almost Appeared In The Show

As the MCU expand they introduce new characters and their stories to its vast audience. The onset of this new period started with the release of Eternals last year which introduced many new actors like Kit Harington and British singer Harry Styles into the multiverse. MCU is expanding like never before now with the multiverse saga. Among all this, the show Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac presents an all-new side of MCU.

This is the sixth series under the MCU banner and has introduced the fans to ancient Egyptian Mythology. The presence of multiple pantheons of Gods is hinted at in the Moon Knight. The success of the Moon Knight has opened many doors for the character to return to MCU. Marvel can renew it for another season, a new movie or it can appear in a muti-hero event like Captain America: Civil War.

The Moon Knight head writer Jeremy Slater spills beans in a recent interview with ComicBook and revealed that Kit Harington’s character Dane Whitman had almost appeared in this series. Slater said that he could have easily slid his character into this series and it would have an easy connection with Steven Grant.

Though he sadly admits that there was no space in the first two episodes. Things may have turned out for the best as the writer later added, “If I see him show up I want to see him go full Black Knight. Just seeing an interaction where he walks past and goes ‘Oh hey Steven,’ who responds ‘Oh, hey Professor Whitman!’ It felt like that would be a waste of the money it would cost Kit Harington in there.”

Jeremy said that he was convinced that Dane Whitman could have been a natural fit with Moon Knight as he embarks on his journey to become a superhero. As mentioned, an interaction between the two was in the making but the lack of time seemed to have joined hands with the situation.

The writer states that he wanted Harington to have his moment and enjoy it as the Black Knight as he was about to stand beside powerful and magnetic heroes of the MCU. While this would have surely added to the twist and shocked the fans all around the world, nonetheless the fans still loved Moon Knight.

Eternals and Moon Knight are currently streaming on Disney+.
