The anticipation of fans is at its peak as Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is a few days away from its release. Sam Raimi is helming the film after Scott Derrickson exited from the film due to certain “creative differences.” Sam Raimi has Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, and Drag Me to Hell to his credit. Producer Kevin Feige wanted a horror-themed element in the new Doctor Strange film. And that is why he hired Raimi. The director has revealed how the “first horror MCU film” came into being.

Scott Derrickson, former director of Doctor Strange 2, described the film at Comic-Con 2019 as the “first scary MCU film.” While talking about the film’s jump scare element with Brandon Davis, host of Phase Zero Podcast, he revealed, “That’s really what Marvel and Kevin Feige wanted to do: they wanted to make Multiverse of Madness their first Marvel entry into the horror film, kind of dipping their toe into the water. It was supposed to be the kind of horror and scariness and spookiness you’d find in a Doctor Strange comic.”
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is leaning more towards gothic and despicableness as comic tales of Doctor Strange than in any of Raimi’s films. Derrickson described the film as “dipped into the Gothic and horror and the horrific.” But Feige later cleared the air and said, “I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s a horror film, but it’ll be a big MCU film with scary sequences in it.” The star cast Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen themselves confirmed to expect jump scares in the “darker-toned” film.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness will hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
