After Iron Man, ‘The Avengers‘ changed the face of Marvel. The crossover featured a few of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities and with a proper execution, the film made a huge commercial success of $1.52 billion. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Hiddleston, the film is treasured by fans.
Although over the years Marvel lost its credibility, it was always credited for its aesthetics and casting choices. As much as the costumes seemed appealing, they were not always a treat to be in. Here is what the cast had to say about their respective costumes.
Scarlett Johansson And Chris Hemsworth Shared Their Traumatic Experience With Marvel Costumes
During a conversation with ABC News, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, and Scarlett Johansson shared the details about their outfits and how uncomfortable they were during the shoot. The ‘Lucy’ actress shared, “It was so hot, I would wring out my socks at the end of the day. They’re like tires. You would just go through sets of them. Every time you get a new costume, you just feel real nice, and then three days later, it’s like the discount Widow.”
After Johansson, Chris Hemsworth also shared that his Thor costume had an attached air-conditioning unit. The ‘Extraction’ actor explained the functionality of it saying, “It was like this T-shirt you’d wear with like a hose that you’d plug in, and there was cool water.”

Tom Hiddleston’s Costume Was The Worst Of All The Cast Members
As much as the Green Cape and the Golden Horn worn by Tom Hiddleston seemed appealing, it was a task wearing it and getting it through the day. The ‘Loki’ costume weighed 30 pounds of leather and metal and the horned headpiece only weighed around eight pounds, revealing it to be the worst costume on the set by Scarlett Johansson.
Tom confided in her about his costume, explaining the difficulty of surviving in the heavy costume. The actor described, “When you’re wearing 30 pounds of leather, then you get very hot, and then all the heat that would normally escape through your head is just kind of encased inside this steel balaclava and your brain slowly turns to scrambled eggs… so it has its challenges.”
