Fans last saw the Henry Cavill-led Superman don his suit in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League.’ Since then, there have been many speculations and announcements taking place. There were also rumors that Michael B. Jordan-led ‘Black Superman’ project is in development for HBO Max. Amidst all the uncertainties and no firm announcements from DC and Warner Bros., a fan took matters into his own hands and announced a public-funded film titled ‘Superman Solar.’
Superman did not have a live-in-action film for a long time. However, a fan who goes by the name Andrew List has announced his own Superman film now. A week ago, he uploaded a first-look teaser video and urged fans to donate to his fund-raising campaign for the production of the superhero film, and the fan’s response has been massive to resurrect their favorite superhero.
“This Story And This Character Means More To Me Than Anything”: Andrew List Termed ‘Superman Solar,’ His Passion Project
In May 2021, Andrew List tweeted, “I’m dying to make a new Superman film. That’s it.” It is June 2022, and the lifetime Superman fan has finally announced the passion project that he claims is his “longest kept secret.” Andrew is a US Army Veteran, who also worked for 15 years as a video editor and in video production.
He was associated with some esteemed projects like The Arrowverse, The Walking Dead, and World Wrestling Entertainment. Finally, he is coming with his film. According to him, Superman’s powers and abilities did not lure him.
He said, “It’s his humanity, he chooses to live as one of us to understand our problems, struggles, and cares all the same. While he does large-scale things like saving earth from alien invasions, he’s also that same guy who stops to help you change your bike tire on the side of the road. That’s what I’ve always loved about Superman.” The inspirations behind the project are ‘Superman Grounded,’ and ‘All-Star Superman.’
The Inspirations And The Crew Behind ‘Superman Solar’
The former inspiration deals with Superman feeling disconnected from the people of his adopted land, and he returns to the Earth to walk across the United States of America to meet his people. The latter is where Superman gets affected by the solar radiation while assisting Dr. Leo Quintum defeats a monster figure which increases his power but jeopardizes his days of living.
He has assembled a team of experienced cinematographers, VFX supervisors, Graphic Designers, etc., Ryan Nunes will lead the Cinematography department, and Julian Bell will supervise the VFX department. For the melody and music, Andrew chose Mike Schmidt. Logos and graphics by David Jones, and SPDRMNKYXXIII, Render Driver, respectively.
