During the 2024 Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift revealed that for two years she has been working on her eleventh studio album called ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

Styled in a black and white cover, the album promises to explore a more poetic side of the artist, possibly like ‘Folklore‘ and ‘Evermore‘. Two days after announcing it, she also released the tracklist which consists of sixteen tracks and one bonus track. The song titles already have revealed a little bit about what the album might be about. But as fans kept digging through to find more and more hints, a lot more came out.

Most of the tracks seem to be a reference to her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn. While another is a song inspired by 1920s ‘It Girl’ Clara Bow. So far two features have been revealed, one Post Malone and one Florence + The Machine.

The album’s release date, which is 19th April seemed to also have a few connections to certain events of her life. Mastermind as she is, here’s why Swift is releasing the album on 19th April.

Firstly, 19th April is Poetry And Creative Mind Day so it’s poetic justice that she would want to release an album on that day. However, on a more personal note, there seem to be reasons more than one for dropping a Joe Alwyn-coded album on this day.

On 19th April 2023, Swift went out with her friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, a day after which all her friends and her brother proceeded to unfollow him on social media.

More so, April 19th is the day the American Revolution against the British started. This might be a metaphor for how Swift, Miss Americana finally started leaving behind Joe Alwyn, who is British.

Also worth mentioning is that the album has a song called ‘So Long London.’

Also worth mentioning is that April 19th is National Cat Lady Day. As Swift herself once said, “You cannot spell cats without T.S.” She’s a mastermind indeed.
