In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Brie Larson responded bluntly when asked why she thinks some men were “threatened” by her casting. “I don’t know. I…don’t pay attention,” she said. She made it clear that she refuses to let that negativity define her experience.

Moreover, when pressed on whether ignoring the misogyny helped her cope, she added, “What I would like you to see is that by continuing this conversation, you are putting me in connection with something that has nothing to do with me.”
Her blunt response underscored her refusal to carry the weight of baseless criticism. And when the interviewer continued to push, Larson made it clear that any further discussion could only lead to more problems for her. Previously, Captain Marvel became a target of “review bombing” on Rotten Tomatoes.
While critics gave the film a solid 79% score, audience scores landed at a divisive 45%. Much of the backlash stemmed from Larson’s outspoken support for diversity in media. However, despite the controversy, Larson has stood by her character and the message she represents.

With the next major MCU event, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, set to hit theaters in 2026, many fans have speculated whether Carol Danvers will play a key role. Larson has remained tight-lipped about her character’s future but did offer some intriguing hints in a conversation with The Playlist.

“I just loved being with those ladies so much,” she said, referring to her The Marvels co-stars. “It takes all kinds of people that have their own special skill sets and the ability to understand that the brink of disaster cannot be stopped by one. It’s all of us coming together.”
While Larson didn’t confirm her return, she did tease, “As for the future, there are things that I know, but I can’t tell you.” With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on the horizon and the MCU expanding its cosmic and multiversal storylines, it’s hard to imagine a future where Captain Marvel doesn’t play a crucial role.
