As he performed his last set at Glastonbury, Kendrick Lamar donned a diamond-encrusted thorn crown and chanted, “Godspeed for women’s rights. They judge you, they judge Christ.” His withdrawal from the platform was signaled by a series of chants.
According to a Vogue story, the rapper, his creative collaborator Dave Free, and Tiffany & Co. worked together to create the crown he wore. For his portrayal of Saviour, he used fake blood and made a dramatic scene out of it. Finally, after repeating it several times and breaking off mid-sentence to toss his microphone to the ground, the speaker walked off stage without finishing the statement. After a theatrical performance at the festival, it was a perfect conclusion.
