Did Cage Purchase A Batcave?
Nicolas Cage disproves reports that he purchased a cave full of bats while filming for National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Nicolas Cage has cleared the air on his rumored purchase of a real-life bat cave.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cage disproved the notion, which was originated by his National Treasure co-star Diane Kruger. While the Hollywood star admitted that he considered buying a cave close to where National Treasure: Book of Secrets was filmed in North Dakota’s the Black Hills, he finally decided against it. “I didn’t buy the cave, it didn’t happen. And there were no bats, there were no bats in the cave,” Cage approved.
The actor also revealed what made him want to buy a cave in the first place. “I had an interest in exploring all the elements — you know, I got my certificate on the Great Barrier Reef, I explored the element of water,” Cage recalled. “Air, I didn’t really get as far as I wanted to — I wanted to be a hang glider, it didn’t happen. Fire, I felt like [with] Ghost Rider I had explored the element of fire. I then I wanted to explore earth and I thought, ‘Yeah, you know, I wanna start spelunking, I wanna start exploring caves.”
Cage Spoke Out About Potential Future Projects
Cage’s most recent appearance was in the action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which he played a fictionalized version of himself. He’s since spoken out about potential future projects, even showing interest in a Muppets-based remake of The Rock, as suggested by one of his followers.
“I would love to be in a Muppet movie. I think Kermit and I can be best friends and I’ve always had a crush on Miss Piggy,” Cage stated.
When asked if he’ll ever reprise his role as Ghost Rider, the Oscar winner was less forthcoming. He was unwavering in his admiration for the Marvel character, “Ghost Rider is an amazing character,” told Cage. “I mean, he’s a complicated character. It’s kind of like, how do you tell the story of Faust within the context of that universe? Because it’s a very philosophical character. I think it makes him special from other superheroes.”
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is currently running in theaters.
