    Oprah Winfrey Makes Startling Confession About Her Experience With Covid-19

    Oprah Winfrey discusses her reaction to COVID-19, as well as her wider lessons about what the pandemic has taught her about healthcare inequity in the United States. She shared while talking about her documentary The Color Of Care that during COVID-19 she literally did not step out of the house for 322 days! Winfrey’s documentary The Color Of Care aims to hit on the racial inequities that the US healthcare system has.

    Winfrey said that what astonished her the most about living through the pandemic was how well she was able to adjust to the solitude. On top of that, Oprah adored not being around other people. She even further added that her friends would make fun of her. This is just because she’s been so careful with herself.

    Why Did Oprah Winfrey Enjoy Her Solitude?

    Oprah shares that one of her close friends, Gayle King asked her if she does not miss meeting out with people. To this, she shared that during her show, she on average meets 700 people. They exchange selfies, handshakes, autographs, and whatnot. All of this brings a lot of attention and exposure to her life. She found staying at home more peaceful as she could now have some me-time. Because earlier even if she had some free time, her mind would force her to think about the next thing that is to be accomplished or done.

    All in all, Oprah shares that she was able to adjust. This is because she has the ability and a really strong sense of being in this present moment and living this moment without having to worry about the next.

    Oprah’s Inspiration Behind The Making Of The Color Of Care

    These sentiments, combined with a story she read about COVID-19 victim Gary Fowler motivated Winfrey to explore filming The Color of Care. It is a documentary that examines how the pandemic highlighted inequities in the healthcare system. That too was based on patients’ racial characteristics and where they live.

    Winfrey said she was appalled and stunned by stories about individuals of color. They died as a result of a lack of access to COVID-19 treatment. The Color of Care will premiere on the Smithsonian Channel on Sunday and will be available for free on the Smithsonian Channel’s Facebook and YouTube pages until May 31.
