    Will Smith Faces Another Major Blow As Netflix Cancels Sequel Of ‘Bright’

    On March 27, 2022; at the 94th Academy Awards, a very disheartening incident occurred in the history of television. The renowned actor Will Smith smacked Chris Rock Who was anchoring the show, following a playful joke.

    The same night, Will Smith won the Oscar for best actor in the movie “King Richard.” But the slap overshadows his victory and makes it extremely uneasy for the fellow stars present there that evening. After that night Smith lost many projects, and recently Netflix canceled one of his upcoming projects.

    Netflix recently cancels “Bright 2” whose release was confirmed in 2018. “Bloomberg” Lukas Shaw declares that Netflix has “abandoned plans to make a sequel to Bright.” Though he also revealed that this had nothing to do with the slapping incident in the Oscar.

    NatGeo Docuseries, pole to pole hits delay in filming following the slap. But it is still happening. This puts the fans of “Bright 2” in extreme distress as they were waiting eagerly for the sequel. Netflix movies like “Fast and Loose” are stalled due to the incident.

    The fans are eagerly hoping the “Bright” sequel can continue in anime form on Netflix. Will’s fans hope to see him soon on the big screen, let’s hope the issue resolves soon.

    Will Smith Banned From Oscars For 10 Years

    The Comedian Chris Rock, the anchor that night, made a playful Joke about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. He said, “Jada, I love You. GI jane 2, can’t wait to see you.” Jada was sitting in the audience and did not seem to like the joke. Soon after the joke Smith got up on the stage looking very angry and slapped Chris Rock across the face.

    Chris responded, “WOW! WOW. Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me.” Smith kept on screaming at Rock saying, “Keep my wife’s name out of your F***ing mouth.”

    Rock exclaimed with grief and humiliation, “This was the greatest night in the history of television.”

    Later on, in his acceptance speech, Will apologizes and his fellow nominees for his disrespectful behavior. This gets Smith banned from attending the Oscar for the next 10 years. However, Chris Rock did not press any charges against Smith.
