Disney+ just dropped the trailer of the much-awaited Star Wars spin-off series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The trailer promises an exciting insight into the Jedi Knight’s, life during his exile in Tatooine. While the trailer seems expressive of the plot details, it still leaves a lot for the audience to keep guessing until the show’s final arrival.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the name stands, will focus on the Jedi Master as he returns on the screens. The show will begin 10 years after the happenings of Star Wars: Revenge Of Sith. The show centrally focuses on the happenings after Obi-Wan Kenobi’s defeat at the hands of Anakin Skywalker as he turns to the dark side as the evil lord Darth Vader.
Exciting Elements Highlighted By The Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer
The New Headquarters of The Inquisitors Unveiled
The new trailer presents a new headquarters of The Inquisitors. Although this one reminds of Darth Vader’s previous tower, it isn’t all the same. This one clashes with the old notion that the inquisitors functioned from Mustafar. The new headquarters is a black structure reflecting the dark agenda of inquisitors. Moreover, it’s seen situated somewhere surrounded by water. The structure suggests an increase in the inquisitor’s power in the new series.
Rupert Friend Steps In Obi-Wan Kenobi As The Grand Inquisitor
The new trailer has finally confirmed the rumors of Rupert Friend’s involvement in the Obi Wan Kenobi series. Rupert is playing the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Vader’s deputy. There are no specific details about the Grand Inquisitor’s track in this series as yet. However, his previous appearances in the Star Wars projects have set his impression as one of the most brutal inquisitors.
Compassion: A Jedi’s Ultimate Weakness
The trailer is high on emotions as it highlights many character traits rooting back to basic human emotions. The teaser shows that compassion is a Jedi’s true weakness. It tells that no true Jedi can walk over injustice or need without taking any call or action. In this series, Obi is based in Tatooine and it’d be a watch to witness if this Jedi trait is used by the enemies to draw him out on the action ground.
Mosis Ingram To Play Inquisitor Reva In The Series
Mosis Ingram is introduced in the trailer as an inquisitor, Reva. The video gives a glimpse of her in a black ensemble. In an interaction, Mosis talked about her character in this show and expressed Reva as “ruthlessly ambitious” and “a formidable new foe”. Further, she explained Reva as the one who “seeks out Jedi-in-hiding for the Empire.” Reva’s stance as an ambitious force subtly hints at a turn where the inquisitor can eye the position of the Grand Inquisitor or ultimately, the Darth Vader.
The Introduction of Planet Daiyu
The trailer features an all-new battleground in the form of Planet Daiyu. The teaser hints at this place as the one where Reva can take on Obi-Wan. Joby Harold explained Daiyu to be like Hong Kong. “It’s got a graffiti-ridden nightlife and is kind of edgy. It’s just got a different lane and a different feeling,” he said. Seems like Daiyu will serve as a major space where Obi-Wan’s story unfolds in the series.
The Emperor’s Inquisitors Reach Tatooine
The trailer disclosed that Inquisitors will arrive at Tatooine ensuring a clash between Kenobi and them. It features Luke Skywalker as a kid, and a previous report hinted that Reva will uncover Luke. The teaser hints at Obi-Wan’s quest to safeguard a young Like as Inquisitors approach Tatooine for Luke and the Jedi Knight during his exile on the sandy dune.
The Expected Exploration of Coruscant’s Underworld
The trailer features glimpses of a place that can be Coruscant’s Underworld. However, the trailer hasn’t exclusively disclosed the location so it can also be just other snippets of Planet Daiyu. But the underworld has long been on the list of representation. Earlier, George Lucas expressed his wish to explore Coruscant’s Underworld when he announced a television series based on it. The implications are strong about the Underworld to be finally explored in this spin-off.
The Trailer Hints At Han Solo’s Cameo In Obi-Wan Kenobi
The trailer in a scene shows Inquisitor Reva facing a potential opponent holding a blaster. The identity is kept hidden in the video, however, some details suggest that he may be Han Solo. The blaster in question is a DL-44 which is Han Solo’s signature weapon. In his last appearance on Solo: A Star Wars Story, Han Solo was seen heading to Tatooine. And the timeline details are comfortable for him to make a cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Switches From Lightsaber To “Uncivilized” Blaster
The video shows Obi-Wan engaging in a firefight on Tatooine’s rooftop. However, in a major shocking move, he’s using a blaster as his weapon in the fight. Obi termed blaster as an “uncivilized” weapon and always preferred the lightsaber as his weapon of choice. However, this move hints at Obi’s conquest of hiding his true identity as a Jedi residing in Tatooine.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Clings On Hope To Go Through All The Chaos
The trailer ends with a snippet saying, “Hope Survives”. Obi-Wan is represented to be in the shades of his last defeat. The trailer suggests that his last seed of fighting happens to be the hope of redeeming himself from his previous defeat. Amidst saving Luke Skywalker and keeping his identity under wraps in Tatooine, Kenobi clings on to hope to endure the madness thrown in his way.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will arrive on 25th May at Disney. The series, along with Ewan McGregor stars Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, and Benny Safdie. Moreover, Hayden Christensen is back to reprise his role as the Darth Vader in the series. Despite his absence from the trailer, Christensen as Darth Vader will play an important part in the series as the central antagonist.
