Other than its enchanting storyline, ‘Bridgerton‘ is known for its dreamy backdrops that add the element of immense grace. As the show is continues to take some steamy turns, production designer Alison Gartshore has revealed in an interview the special efforts their team has to put into making the furniture look better.
Gartshore has worked on the hit Netflix Regency drama since 2020 and was recently speaking with Architectural Digest that they test the set pieces for the show’s intimate scenes. Read on to know the intricate efforts that go into the making of the show.

How ‘Bridgerton’s Steamy Scenes Put Furniture To The Test
Alison Gartshore was speaking during an interview with Architectural Digest when she revealed that the furniture pieces on ‘Bridgerton‘ are tested especially for intimate scenes. She revealed that the process starts when the team is “reading the scripts.”
“Obviously, if you know Bridgerton, you’ll know that there’s quite a lot of intimate scenes throughout the series,” she said, as she toured the Bridgerton family residence during the interview. “Not to give you any spoilers, but we always have to make sure that where we have those intimacy scenes the furniture will stand up to the job, shall we say,” she added.
The interview was held just as a new season of the Shonda Rhimes-produced series is keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The long-awaited love story of Penelope and Colin will be in focus during the show. The story is as per the happenings in Julia Quinn’s fourth novel, ‘Romancing Mister Bridgerton’.

‘Bridgerton’s Happenings So Far
At the beginning of the season, viewers can see that Penelope’s character has drifted apart from the Bridgerton kin after she heard Colin say that he would “never dream” of courting her. Colin, who is just back from his travels, is trying to win Penelope back by mentoring her in finding a husband.
As the story unfolds, the characters Colin and Penelope, played by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan respectively, have many intimate scenes. Opening up about filming their intimate scenes, Coughlan revealed that they broke a piece of furniture on set.
“Yeah, hell yeah we did,” Coughlan said at the season 3 launch event in Australia when asked to confirm reports of the furniture damage.
The first part of ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 premieres on May 16, and part 2 drops on June 13. Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘Bridgerton‘ are now streaming on Netflix.
