The CW has announced that the popular Riverdale series will end with its seventh season. Created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, it premiered in 2017 and gained huge popularity after it started streaming on Netflix. Riverdale is based on Archie comics, which debuted in print in 1939.
Riverdale Season 7 To Mark An End To The Show
Riverdale features Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Archie (KJ Apa) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse). There are sinister and supernatural elements that plague the lives of these teenagers and townspeople. While Netflix helped Riverdale’s ratings to jump several notches, now the show will come to an end with its 7th season. It will premiere in early 2023.
About Riverdale going off air, The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz told TV Line, “I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate sendoff. We had a long conversation with [executive producer] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday, who is thrilled by this news, and we will treat the show in the manner it deserves…. We want to make sure it goes out the right way.
He added, “I think they, too, felt that seven years is the right amount. As a fan myself, I do want to do what is right for the show.”

Riverdale: Story So Far
Riverdale’s synopses reads, “After a teenager was murdered within the town of Riverdale, a group of teenagers, the jock Archie, the girl next door Betty, the new girl Veronica and the outcast Jughead try to unravel the evils lurking within this seemingly innocent town.”
In the latest Season 6, Archie and Betty decided to give their romance another shot, while Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) planted a bomb under Archie’s bed. While it doesn’t go off, their lives in Riverdale seen far from normal as dangers lurk in every corner.
Before Riverdale, The CW cancelled Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Naomi, Legacies, Dynasty, Charmed, Roswell, New Mexico, In The Dark, and 4400.
