“The Walking Dead” And Its Ever-Expanding Universe
Since its premiere in 2010, The Walking Dead has established itself as a huge cultural milestone for AMC. It also received a slew of positive reviews and many Golden Globe nominations. The show’s popularity has led to the creation of a broader franchise. This includes two spin-off programs, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. As well as plans for two additional spinoffs and a trilogy of films. All focusing on Andrew Lincoln’s Rick following his presumed death. AMC now looks to be expanding its Walking Dead universe even more.
As far back as 2019, there had been rumors of a Cohan spinoff series. Fear the Walking Dead was just extended for an eighth season. The Walking Dead: World Beyond was canceled after the second season. The anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead is due to premiere this year. Finally, a series starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride is in the works for next year.
McDermott, the President of AMC Studios said “This is a very big day for the expanding universe we are building around The Walking Dead. It not only adds another compelling series to this collection, but it also extends our storytelling around two unforgettable characters fans have grown to love, hate or hate and then love in Maggie and Negan, brilliantly inhabited by Lauren and Jeffrey. It also lets us explore a corner of this universe located on the island of Manhattan, with an iconic skyline that takes on a quite different meaning when viewed through the lens of a zombie apocalypse.”
Lauren Cohan As Maggie Is A Sight To Watch
Maggie was first presented as a typical Georgia country girl in Season 2. Her father, Hershel, owned and ran the property where Rick Grimes’ crew would spend the bulk of the season. Maggie has grown into a skilled survivalist and natural leader since leaving the homestead. She left The Walking Dead in the middle of season 9 to join Georgie’s gang of off-screen assistants. Maggie is returning as a series regular as of the eleventh and final season.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan Portrays Negan Very skillfully
In the season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead, Negan made his debut. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s role was the show’s most powerful nemesis for more than two seasons. Negan governed his Saviors with an iron grip, wielding a barbed-wire bat dubbed Lucille and an infamous black leather jacket. Negan has remained in the series since the loss of his Saviors.
Maggie And Negan Share A Tense Relationship
The news that Maggie and Negan will have their show isn’t all that unexpected. Even though Negan looks to have left The Walking Dead’s main series, for the time being, the program has relished teaming him with Maggie. Since Negan’s first appearance on the show, when he savagely bashed Maggie’s husband Glenn’s brains in, the two have had a strained relationship.
The last time Maggie and Negan were seen together in The Walking Dead was when the latter parted ways as he realized the former would never forgive him for his acts, with a small-time jump.
