    The Vampire Diaries‘ is an American supernatural drama series developed by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson that aired first in 2009. It is based on a series of novels written by L.J Smith with the same name. It is one of the popular series of the mid-2000s, the series which got teenagers involved in the vampirism cult. The show received numerous award nominations, winning four People’s Choice Awards and many Teen Choice Awards.

    After the success of the show, the producers released ‘The Originals, the prequel of ‘Vampire Diaries‘ and ‘Legacies‘, the sequel to the show. With each preceding season of the show, new villains were introduced making the show intriguing. ‘Originals‘ revolve around the Mikelson family from New Orleans. Legacies revolve around the aftermath of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Originals‘ – the primary plot is set in Salvatore Boarding school, which is solely for supernatural beings run by Caroline Forbes.     Who Is Lexi Branson, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Character Based On Taylor Swift?

    During season one, the show introduced us to Lexi Branson, Stephen’s best friend for centuries. She met Stefan during the War, and helped him through his blood-craving phase, saving him from being a ripper. Lexi on screen was like sunlight, blonde, bubbly, and cheerful – a best friend everyone wishes for. She befriended Elena and also advised her on the relationship with Stefan. She always visited Stefan on his birthday and was always there to pull him from the dark side. Is her personality inspired by a leading pop star?

    Fans loved the character of Lexi from the beginning and gravitated toward her positivity and loyal personality. Interestingly enough, the character of Lexi was based on Taylor Swift, as showrunners later revealed. Kevin Williamson, the show’s co-creator, is a huge fan of Swift, and once revealed that he was “desperate” to have Swift make an appearance on the show. Casting an actress who closely resembled Swift was certainly a close second option. 

    The character of Lexi Branson was played by Arielle Kebbel, who undoubtedly played an impeccable role as Lexi. She worked in many different genres, starting from horror to comedy, and has earned a reputation as a versatile and appealing actress. Kebbel does bear a striking resemblance to Taylor Swift which might have helped her to land the part. Her role in ‘The Vampire Diaries‘ became one of her most popular and appeared in the show all throughout the series run until it ended in 2017.

    What Is ‘The Vampire Diaries’ About?

    The show is set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, which is the beacon for all supernatural creatures and their history. A 17-year-old Elena Gilbert falls in love with century-old vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, inviting trouble for her friends and herself. The town is plagued with vampires, werewolves, hybrids, doppelgangers, and Original Vampires. The show also focuses on the lives of Elena’s friends, Bonnie Bennet and Caroline Forbes along with other inhabitants of the town. Basically, the series is a typical mix of teen drama and the supernatural.
