Euphoria came as a surprise to everyone with nominations for the 2020 Emmy Awards. Given the series released in summer 2019 and its completion in August 2019, it had impressed the audience favorably. Not only Euphoria, but Zendaya’s role as Rue acted as a cherry on the cake for Emmy wins.

Out of the 5 nominations for Emmy 2020, Euphoria successfully won 3 of them. Winnings include Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics is all thanks to Labyrinth’s “All of Us” from the final episode And Salt the earth Behind You. With this Euphoria grabbed more Emmys in comparison to The Leftovers or The Wire from the HBO series.
Zendaya’s Emmy win for Best Actress
July 28, 2020, marks the big day for Zendaya. She won her first Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She competed against Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Colman, Laura Linney, Jodi Comer, and Sandra Oh and won. Zendaya broke Comer’s record of Youngest Emmy Winner at the age of 24. As much as it was unexpected, it was indeed well deserved for Zendaya’s Rue.
Zendaya is seen in season 2 as well. HBO has aired Euphoria’s second season on January 9, 2022. Fans look forward to next season with excitement, all thanks to the amazing cast. Euphoria 2 took a little over two years to premiere due to the coronavirus pandemic.
