Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were criticized for copying Marvin Gaye’s song ‘Got to Give It Up’ for their 2013 hit single, ‘Blurred Lines.’

Pharrell Williams’ song ‘Happy’ was popular in 2014. However, Marvin Gaye’s family accused him of copying Gaye’s song, ‘Ain’t That Peculiar.’

Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ was released in 1971. But the band was charged with plagiarizing the rock band Spirit’s single, ‘Taurus.’

Katy Perry’s song ‘Roar’ was one of the biggest hits of 2013. But there were reports that a few parts were stolen from Sara Bareilles’ song ‘Brave.’

‘Ice Ice Baby’ by Vanilla Ice was accused of using the bass line from Queen and David Bowie’s collaboration, ‘Under Pressure’, released in 1986.

Sam Smith’s single ‘Stay with Me’ was loved by the audience in 2014. But it seems like the song was copied from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1989 tune, ‘I Won’t Back Down.’

‘Fight Test’ by The Flaming Lips was accused of copyright infringement of the single, Father and Son, which was released in 1970 by Cat Stevens.

Avril Lavigne’s 2007 song ‘Girlfriend’ was also a hit. But it was accused of being a copy of 1979 single, ‘I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend’, by The Rubinoos.
