Ana De Armas' Ex Co-star Slams Her 'Blonde' Oscar Nom

WRITTEN BY YASH SINGH

Ana De Armas received a lot of praise for her portrayal of yesteryear star Marilyn Monroe in last year’s biographical drama film ‘Blonde.’

However, it seems many in the industry don’t feel the same way.

During the Vulture’s “Into It” podcast, Ana’s ‘Deep Water‘ co-star Lil Rel Howery criticized her for getting an oscar nomination in the Best Actress category.

Somebody else should have got bumped,” Howery said.

“I’m not going to say anything, but it’s a movie nominated as a Razzie. [The Oscar nomination] doesn’t make sense to me.”

“It’s just — and that’s somebody I did film with,” Howery said. “I did ‘Deep Water’ with her, with Ben Affleck. Amazing. I’m just talking about the Academy. What are y’all doing? Come on, fam. For real?”

Howery also said that black actresses like Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler should have been nominated.

'Blone' was criticized for its graphic depiction of Monroe's life. However, Ana's performance was well received.
