Bad Bunny’s ex-girlfriend has recently filed a $40 million lawsuit against him over a voice recording she provided the singer before he became famous.
Identified as Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez, her recording ‘Bad Bunny, baby’ was added in two of Bunny’s songs and she claimed in the lawsuit that her voice and phrase are being used without her permission.
The lawsuit was first reported by online Puerto Rico news site NotiCel and it stated that the phrase used in the song was Pa Ti, which has received more than 355 million views on YouTube alongside 235 million reproductions on Spotify.
The phrase has been used in the single Dos Mil 16, which has more than 60 million views on YouTube and around 280 million reproductions on Spotify.
According to the lawsuit, Hernandez’s voice has been used without her consent in the songs, records, promotions, concerts, television, radio, social media and music platforms.
The lawsuit says that thousands of people have commented on Carliz’s social media networks and this has left her worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed and anxious.
Bunny’s manager Noah Kamil Assad Byrne is also being sued and until now, neither Bunny nor Assad’s representatives have commented on anything related to the lawsuit.
Bunny and Hernandez were romantically linked in 2011 and according to the lawsuit, Bunny was creating songs and rhythms after taking opinions from Hernandez, who was in charge of scheduling Bunny’s parties and contracts.
