Colorado School Bus Driver In News After Intentionally Slamming On Brakes To Teach Kids Lesson

A video emerged on the internet showing a Colorado school bus driver intentionally slamming on the brakes because the children were not sitting still.

The video was obtained by station KRDO. It showed that the Castle Rock Elementary School students facing into the backs of the seats in front of them in Colorado Springs on March 1.

Identified as Brian Fitzgerald, the driver was dropping off the students. It can be heard in the footage that Brian was berating the children before brake-checking them.

Brian told the kids that they need to be in their seats and added, “You guys want to see how dangerous that is?” He then slammed on the brakes at 9 mph.

Brian then told the students that this was the reason why they needed to be in their seats and asked them to turn around and sit down properly.

A girl at the back of the bus then calls her parent and complains, saying that the driver’s actions have left one of her schoolmates bleeding from the cheek.

The girl cried when her father came to pick her up and the driver received a warning. However, Brian defended himself and charged the children of running all over the place – a claim that was denied by the kids.

Following multiple complaints from the parents, Fitzgerald was sidelined by the Douglas County School District during an internal investigation. They even found that “the driver did brake check the students.”
