Did Elon Musk Receive Government Grant For Tesla?

Elon Musk have been accused of neglecting his EV venture Tesla amidst the Twitter revamping.

Along with two engineers. JB Straubel, Elon Musk, and Ian Wright co-founded the Tesla in 2003 and in 2004, they started Series A of funding.

However, during the production of the Roadster model, in 2008, the company was on the brink of bankruptcy.

The Tesla board decided to raise $40 million in debt financing for Elon Musk's venture.

Now, Ralph Nader, a customer welfare and environmental activist claimed that Tesla got the initial funding from a large government welfare grant.

The billionaire has refuted the claim saying that he self funded the Tesla venture, and it was only in 2010 that the company took a loan under the vehicle efficiency lending program.

Elon Musk has always been a critic of the government subsidies. He criticized Joe Biden's "$1 trillion infrastructure bill" despite Tesla getting benefited.

However, Elon Musk has taken the help of government for federal pay roll benefits, establishing a Gigafactory in Nevada and other ventures.
