Elizabeth Holmes To Begin Her Prison Sentence At The End Of April

WRITTEN BY SHAURYA THAKUR

A federal judge has denied the disgraced Theranos founder's request to remain free while she appeals her convictions.

Failing to do so, Elizabeth Holmes will now start her 11 year-prison sentence on April 27, 2023.

In her ruling, US District Judge Edward Davila said Holmes could not prove her appeal would lead to another trial.

At 19, Elizabeth Holmes dropped out of Stanford to start a start-up called Theranos to revolutionize biomedical research.

Theranos created a revolutionary blood-testing device that could run many tests from just a few drops of blood, ranging from cholesterol levels to complex genetic analysis.

Soon, the fraudulence of Theranos was exposed. Holmes lied to her investors by providing them with falsified reports of the medical tests.

Once hailed as the "next Steve Jobs," Holmes was found guilty of four counts of fraud in January 2022.

Amanda Seyfried played Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu miniseries 'The Dropout.' She won a Golden Globe for her performance in the show.
