Elon Musk Says 100 Starlinks Are Active In Iran

Musk has recently said that his company SpaceX has nearly 100 active Starlinks, their satellite internet service, in Iran amid nationwide protests following Mahsa Amin’s death.

On Monday, the billionaire tweeted, “approaching 100 starlinks active in Iran“.

He wrote this almost three months after talking about activating the service in the Islamic country.

In September, the Tesla CEO said that he would activate Starlink in Iran “to advance internet freedom and the free flow of information” to Iranians as part of a U.S.-backed mission.

This move will help Irani citizens dodge the government’s restrictions on the internet ban and several social media platforms during the protests.

On 16 September 2022, a lady named Mahsa Amin died in the hospital in Tehran after she was arrested by the Guidance patrol over an alleged violation of their hijab rule for women.

Eyewitnesses said that she had been beaten severely by Guidance Patrol officers, something that they kept denying.

Amini's death sparked civil unrest and nationwide protests.
