Musk had come up with the plan to charge $8 a month to verified accounts of individuals and organizations on Twitter.
However, it had to be withheld after several fake profiles ended up getting verified.
Now, the SpaceX founder has paused its relaunch. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to announce this news.
He tweeted, “Holding off relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation.”
Musk also said, “Will probably use different color check for organizations than individuals.” This plan has been widely criticized by users and celebrities.
However, Musk has defended his actions and said that the blue check mark will be the “great leveler“.
