Guillermo Del Toro Calls Out Institutional Racism In Hollywood

At the 2023 Oscars, Guillermo Del Toro talked about the racial bias he faced during the early phase of his career.

In the 1990s, an unnamed movie producer put forth his hesitation for hiring Del Toro for 'Pan's Labyrinth,' asking, "Why do I want a Mexican, I have a gardener?"

While the filmmaker is happy with the diverse representation now, he reminded the Latin community to stick together as there's always a "glass ceiling" they must break.

Guillermo Del Toro won the 'Best Animated Feature' Award for 'Pinocchio'.

Guillermo Del Toro previously won the Best Picture and Best Director Oscars in 2016 for 'The Shape Of Water.'

The three-time Oscar winner also reminded the industry to treat animators with respect and step up to encourage the artists of tomorrow.

At the 95th Academy Awards, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' dominated with ten wins, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Jimmy Kimmel acted as the master of the ceremonies for the Oscars. Unlike last year, the ceremony went hitch-free without any incidents of violence.
