In an interview with EW, 'The Little Mermaid' director Rob Marshall confirmed meeting Harry Styles for the role of Prince Eric.

Marshall recalled Styles being "wonderful" during their meeting and how his desire to move slightly away from music made him say no.

Harry Styles was looking to reinvent his career with challenging acting opportunities.

The role ended up going to the British actor Jonah Andre Hauer-King.

Since leaving One Direction, Styles has released three solo albums - 'Harry Styles,' Fine Line,' and 'Harry's House.'

He's won three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Solo Performance for 'Watermelon Sugar,' and Album Of The Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album for 'Harry's House.'

He made his acting debut with a supporting role in Christopher Nolan's 2017 war drama 'Dunkirk.' He also appeared in 'Eternals' and 'My Policeman.'

He also appeared in the Olivia Wilde-directed sci-fi drama, 'Don't Worry Darling' opposite Florence Pugh.
