Historical Figures Whose Bodies Have Never Been Found

Amelia Earhart left Lae, New Guinea with navigator Fred Noonan for Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean on July 2, 1937. The duo disappeared and were never found.

Bison Dele was believed to have been killed by his brother Miles Dabord in the sea in 2002. He has been reported missing since the time alongside his girlfriend Serena Karlan and skipper Bertrand Saldo.

Alexander the Great died in 323 BC in Babylon and following his funeral, his body was buried in Memphis, Egypt. Ptolemy I Soter shifted and reburied the body in a tomb in Alexandria. It has been missing since then.

Jimmy Hoffa has been missing since 1975 from the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox restaurant. The initial theory is that he was kidnapped and killed by the mafia. His body has not been found until today.

Genghis Khan died in 1227 but his burial site remains unknown. According to reports, Khan requested his body to be returned to Mongolia in an unmarked grave.

Solomon Northup was a violinist and farmer. He was drugged, kidnapped, and sold into slavery in 1841. Although he broke free, he mysteriously disappeared in 1957 and there were speculations that he was either murdered or sold into slavery.

Oscar Zeta Acosta was in a conversation with his son hinting he was going on a boat ride full of drugs. He disappeared in 1974 and his family assumed that he was murdered following an argument with the wrong people.

Oliver Cromwell suffered from an illness leading to his death in 1658. Although his body was exhumed from Westminster Abbey for execution in 1661, his head went into the heads of private collectors until its burial in 1960.
