Hugh Grant Says There Would Be More Affairs On Set If Phones Were Banned

Hugh Grant recently went on to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his next film ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’. The actor talked about the impact of mobile phones on film sets with the host Stephen Colbert.

Actor Hugh Grant expressed how the time on sets has changed drastically from when he started working in the 1980s. He also added that he enjoyed shooting back then, and it’s much weirder now because of mobile phones and telephones.

Grant said, “Films are so weird now, they are weird because, in the old days, by the end of the second week, you were all getting drunk in the evening and having dinner and falling in love with each other and all of that. All of that stopped because of telephones. Everyone goes home and looks at Twitter. It’s so sad.”

Colbert, shocked, asked Grant, “So, if there weren’t telephones on set, there’d be more affairs going on?” To which Grant replies, “Yeah, I think so, you know, (Quentin) Tarantino bans telephones from sets and quite right too, and the people there, they do all shag each other – or so I’m told.”

Later Grant also talked about the filming process for his new movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. He said that he had to learn sword fighting for the movie, and all the training has led to his ‘incredible ass’. He joked about how he had to do countless squats.

Hugh Grant recently, was embroiled in controversy after his Oscar appearance. His interview on the Oscars red carpet with model Ashley Graham was considered extremely rude and awkward. Many fans considered the entire exchange to be unpleasant.

Reactions to the Oscars interview weren’t great. One person commented, “Hugh Grant red carpet interview that just aired on ABC was a complete disaster lol. As he walked off he shook his head in shock.” Another one said, “Was that Hugh Grant interview the most uncomfortable thing ever?!?”

 Grant is also notorious for talking about his relationships with his female co-stars. He has joked about his co-stars and said, “Andie MacDowell: southern belle, charming, gorgeous. Emma Thompson: clever, funny, mad as a chair. Renée Zellweger: delightful, also far from sane, very good kisser.”

He continued with remarks like “Sandra Bullock: a genius, a German, too many dogs. Julianne Moore: brilliant actress, loathes me. Rachel Weisz: clever, beautiful., despises me. Drew Barrymore: made her cry, stunning film-star face, hates me.”

Grant arrived on the show to discuss his next fantasy film that stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé Jean Page, and more alongside Grant. The discussion diverted completely to Grant’s thoughts on filming and being on a set in today’s day and age.
